April Fool’s Day Fun!!!!

*will add pictures tomorrow!!:)

History of the Day

It is a special pranking day, celebrated every April 1st. It can be a lot of fun if planned out correctly. There are many theories and speculations over what started the tradition every year. Although the beginning may be foggy, we know that there have been great pranks throughout history. The prank-centered nature of April Fools’ Day is specific to Europe and North America.

“April Fools’ Day is a far more important holiday than most people recognize. By designating a day for humor and pranks, we create a safe space for a wider range of expression,” said Maurice Schweitzer, researcher of humor and professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Pranks I am Pulling on April Fools’ Day!!

Food Prank Ideas:
Eggs and fries – Use your childs favourite brand vanilla yogurt, scoop out 1/3 cup of the yogurt and make the cooked egg white on a dinner-sized plate. Place a canned apricot half or canned peach half in the center to make the yolks. Next, grate 1/2 apple for each plate, sprinkle with a little bit of lemon juice (to help control browning), and make “hash browns”!

Jiggly Juice – Pick a realistic juice colour in jello packages, my kids are partial to grape and cranberry juice, so I used raspberry jello. Make the jello according to directions. It is most effective to pour it into clear plastic cups. Stick a straw in it to make it look authentic and let the jello set.

Bar ‘Sponge’ Cake – Go to the dollar store and purchase 8 sponges, buy a can of chocolate frosting, and some sprinkles. Make a cake by frosting together the sponges and putting a layer of icing all over the top.

Other Prank Ideas:

Stuff toilet paper into kids/spouse shoes – this is such an easy thing to do! Take a roll of toilet paper and make a round bunch, stuffing it into the toe of the shoes of people you want to prank. Make sure that it is stuffed in snug, so they can’t see the toilet paper.

Tonight when the kids fall asleep, switch them around in their beds. Simple thing to do and no materials needed.

Put a roll of white duct tape on the toilet paper roll (hide an actual roll in close vicinity).

Buy green food dye gel, using a q-tip, ring the bathtub faucet with the gel. The gel will adhere to the inside of the faucet better. When the unsuspecting ‘victim’ turns on the water for a bath, they will be surprised to see green water coming out.
